What Tuesday Night TV Series Should I Watch?
Tuesday nights are packed with some of the greatest shows on current television. While it’s hard to decide which ones to spend your time watching, there are three that fall above the rest.
A continuation of the 2011 thriller with the same title (based on the novel The Dark Fields), Limitless follows the story of Brian Finch (Jake McDorman), a 20-something burnout who discovers the drug “NZT-48”, which allows the user to access every part of their brain and gives them perfect recall of everything they have ever seen, heard, or read. With overuse, NZT causes extreme side effects and eventually death. When Brian is arrested by the FBI as a suspect in a murder case, they discover that he is immune to the side effects of NZT. The reason for Brian’s immunity is because of a booster shot provided to him by Senator Eddie Morra (the main character in the film, played by Bradley Cooper). The FBI brings Brian on as a contractor and provides him with NZT to help them solve cases; meanwhile, Senator Morra has a contact at the FBI to use to his advantage. Limitless has humor, drama, and the occasional romance.
New Girl (FOX)
Now on season five, New Girl follows roommates Jess (Zooey Deschanel), Schmidt (Max Greenfield), Nick (Jake Johnson), and Winston (Lamorne Morris), along with former (and current) roommate Coach (Damon Wayans, Jr) and Jess’s best friend Cece (Hannah Simone) and their lives in their Los Angeles loft. Jess, a dorky and loveable school teacher, moves into the loft after catching her boyfriend cheating on her. Initially, the boys think she is crazy, but after helping her get her TV (and her collection of weird hats) back from her boyfriend’s house, she starts to grow on them. New Girl follows the humorous lives of these friends as they experience love, loss, career changes, fights, and the highs and lows of life.
This Tuesday night TV show is not your typical blood and gore zombie show. I-Zombie is about former medical resident Olivia “Liv” Moore (Rose McIver) who attends a party that is attacked by people who have taken the new drug “Utopium.” Utopium has one major side effect – it turns you into a zombie. Liv gets scratched by a zombie, and instantly her skin turns pale white and ghastly, her hair turns white, and she takes on a new craving for brains. Liv gives up her residency to become a coroner’s assistant at the local medical examiner’s office under Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti (Rahul Kohli). She eats the brains of the deceased and then takes on their personalities and memories. She uses this skill pretends to be a psychic and assists Detective Clive Babineaux (Malcolm Goodwin) in solving murders. Unlike most other zombie thrillers, there are only a few zombies and only a few people know about them. I-Zombie would be categorized as a dramedy as it is humorous but also tackles more serious subject matter, like death and relationship issues. I-Zombie was recently renewed for a third season.
Tune in or set up your DVR so next time you ask yourself “What Tuesday night TV series should I watch?” you’ll have three superb shows to choose from.
